Dr Phillipe Simonin, a Swiss-French dermatologist published a study for this ground-breaking technique which stated a very successful trial. Micro-needling uses a pen machine or roller that is attached to a series of tiny sterile small needles that prick the skin. This action causes the skin to regenerate collagen and skin tissue so that when it heals it will be smoother and in much better condition.
Micro-needling is most commonly known for treating the face and neck area. However, it can also treat trauma and burn scars, alopecia, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage and other skin conditions.
How does it work?
The concept is based on the skins amazing wound healing response when it has been damaged. Blood components flood the injured area causing platelets to release clotting factors and growth factors. As a result, new collagen and elastin is formed reducing imperfections on the skin.
Will one session be enough?
Normally you will require a series of sessions, between 3 to 6 every 4 to 6 weeks. The only time when this is different is for the treatment of hair loss. Hair loss can take between 4 to 8 sessions. However, these can be done every week if required.
Does it hurt?
Every individual has a different pain threshold. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied 20 to 30 minutes prior to the treatment session. This normally prevents any discomfort.
What is the downtime afterwards?
A cooling mask is applied to the area straight after the treatment. This helps to calm any redness meaning that most people are fine to get on with their day straight afterwards. It can feel a little sensitive afterwards. Like a mild, tender, sun burn.
How much does it cost?
We are currently offering Micro-needling at the amazing price of £100 per session. However, we do offer deals for multiple session bookings.
